Ansaldo Energia has been awarded another important contract in Egypt worth about 40 million euros. The new order is for the third steam turbine at the Giza North power plant on the outskirts of Cairo.
The order covers the supply and erection of an RT30C steam turbine rated 280 MW, the corresponding THR-L45 hydrogen-cooled generator, and the relative auxiliary systems for the Giza North combined cycle power plant.
The power plant is operated by Cairo Electricity Production Co., a company owned by Egyptian Electricity Holding Co, the state electricity authority, which controls about 90% of electricity production in the country.
This achievement follows on from the contract signed late in 2011, worth about Euro 90 million, covering the supply and erection of two similar turbines and the relative generators and auxiliary systems. As can be seen, Ansaldo Energia is continuing its drive in the Mediterranean area and consolidating its position in Egypt.
